Shut Program

Closed system storage units have camlock couplings of valve that seals the opening on drums and totes. This prevents contaminants of the DEF during transport, dispensing and fingertips phases of the pot life cycle. A typical closed system will have a dip-tube with the container. A coupler or “dispense head” is then linked on-site to the dip-tube for dispensing purposes. The trend has altered to using closed allotting system. It minimizes the potential for hazardous chemicals and fumes exposure. The other way to remove chemicals from a rigid container is from the top while the container is straight, by using a closed dispensing system.

Open System

A system is one in which the DEF containers are not sealed. The OUTL container is confronted with exterior contaminants during a number of use phases, that is, gas, transport, dispensing or convenience. It involves installing a drum pump with a stick type dip-tube at the conclusion use site. Basically there is also a hole in the trommel bung. The good thing about this method is that it is recylable and does not add cost to the textbox package. Nonetheless it uses an unfiltered venting path which is available to atmosphere while dispensing, thus, exposing it to contamination of the DEF. Also, while changing the container, the dip-tube must be removed which is very messy and troublesome job.
